SWARF BRIQUETTING MACHINES MORI IRON WORKS

Nowadays, it is common that large amounts of cut-chips (swarf) created during the production of components are sold at a low price by
weight to a scrap recycle company while still containing a coolant solvent (water + oil).
This process has been unavoidable and is often termed “waste management” and gives companies little or no return. Now there is a better way which gives
better control, environmental credits, cost saving and increased margins.
With lean manufacture and a more environmental conscious awareness companies are advocating new ecological protection standards. ISO-14000, takes into account that the cut-chips and coolant solvents should be treated as “value-added goods” creating a profit. If the recycling is
done within the factory all the better.
Note: ISO-14000 states, “no industrial wastes created at the factory.”
Recently, there has been success in recovering coolant and dramatic increase in the value of swarf by pressing into formed briquettes.
The briquettes can be returned to the foundry for resmelting and the coolant is returned to the production machines.
