For a profitable application of this modern efficient and expensive machining center, the right choice for the clamping fixture is important. Productivity is the main goal. While high clamping force and precision are important, changeover time and setup, the optimal use of the working area and the total cost are of utmost importance.

1. The traditional method, similar to a vise, in multiple form:
For many works the vise is still the most frequently chosen clamping device. TRIAG workholding systems can be set up as vises with simple configurations. Such a modular vise can later be extended into a multiple workholding system (see picture). All the parts of the basic configuration can still be used. Defective parts can be replaced without a problem.
The traditional method, similar to a vise, in multiple order permits a very high clamping density in a limited space. We produce two multiple workholding systems which offer similar possibilities based on a different set up. Both systems use the backs of their vise modules as end modules. Since these modules are available in different widths, work pieces can be machined from three sides (from 19mm up).
There are several special modules as well as a lot of stock accessories available for both systems. A third system based on tiny modules has been specially designed for dedicated fixtures.

On machining centers with high rapid travers movements the reduction ofweight on the pallet changers is more and more becoming a very significantfactor. The specific weight of our tombstones made of epoxy mineral is less than that of aluminum. In addition this material hasa very high vibration absorbing effect which allows smooth and chatter free machining even in the upper section of the tombstone.
Working with 5-axes machines one always experiences difficulties inthe reach of the machine spindle. TRIAG was able to develop a modularworkholding system which allows free machining of small and large work pieces.

2. Clamping by vacuum:
For parts in shapes of large plates, and also for non-magnetic parts, the vacuum clamp system mivaCLAMP is used. This system eliminates any deformation and clamp marks. The parts are evenly pulled into the fixture over the whole surface and eliminates vibrations.
3. Workholding by freezing:
by using the latent heat of evaporation of a cooling medium work pieces are frozen onto a work table. Advantages are minute freeze and thaw times. Workholding by freezing is not suitable for cutting processes expelling too much heat.

A reduction of set up time may be achieved by installing the OPP fixturepositioning system (0-point fixture locking system). This new locatingdevice allows a highly accurate location of fixtures and vises onto themachine table.
More than 750'000 clamping cycles without loss of reference.
